Excluded youth project: how can we work together to reduce youth crime?

User Voice sought the opinion of people involved in the youth justice system to answer questions about triggers for offending behaviour, lived experience of youth justice services and solutions to prevent re-offending. In December 2011 we published Positive for Youth, a crossgovernment strategy which brings together policy from at least nine different departments into a single vision for helping all young people succeed. Positive for Youth celebrates, promotes and supports the role and responsibility of parents, families and communities in building supportive relationships with young people. Such relationships are vital if young people are to realise their ambitions and take advantage of the opportunities they receive. Positive for Youth also recognises the valuable role that youth work and other services play in the lives of many young people, and sets our principles to guide future reform.
