“Black is guilty in their eyes” experiences of black and mixed heritage boys in youth justice services
This report details the experience of black and mixed heritage boys in youth offending services (YOS), exploring experiences with the police, relationships with YOS workers, discrimination and lack of understanding of support.
Overall, we found that the boys spoke extensively about their experiences with the police. For many, the number of times they had been stopped and searched was attributable to their ethnicity. They felt that they were disproportionately targeted and profiled by the police in comparison to their white counterparts.
